My work in community settings spans twenty years, starting with Hertfordshire Youth Service, providing making and issue led arts.
I then worked with New Hope Trust for people facing homelessness in the Watford area, and devised some beautiful participation and collaborative work with participants, both at their site at Whippendell Road and their community garden.
Working with people from all backgrounds and ages from schools to informal services inspires and invigorates my illustration practice. Sometimes the two mix and books are created, like in Herts Hidden Heroines project run by Trestle Theatre and producer Anna Reynolds. Below are some of the images taken at my workshops over the years
Self Portraits with The Daylight Club
Using photographs the group imagined or traced themselves towards a book all about their lives and their club....we used cut out words and sentences printed as the wanted, simply stuck with tape, which we scanned ready for inclusion in the book.
