Work with New Hope Trust for people facing homelessness and disadvantage. Small square canvases were given, paints and pencils, found materials and a lot of thought. Run in the beautiful grounds of the trust's community garden.
My work in community settings spans twenty years, starting with Hertfordshire Youth Service, providing making and issue led arts.
I then worked with New Hope Trust for people facing homelessness in the Watford area, and devised some beautiful participation and collaborative work with participants, both at their site at Whippendell Road and their community garden.
Working with people from all backgrounds and ages from schools to informal services inspires and invigorates my illustration practice. Sometimes the two mix and books are created, like in Herts Hidden Heroines project run by Trestle Theatre and producer Anna Reynolds.
